In past iterations, it’s included corn kernels, a whoooooole lot more sugar and heavy cream making it akin to the most decadent spoon bread you’ve ever had. While we’ve loved every form this cornbread has taken, we realized while doing competition BBQ, the importance of having a delicious consistent base that can stand alone. We think we’ve gotten to the most perfect distilled version of corn bread we can, BUT it’s also the perfect base for your creativity. Things we suggest adding:
a bag of frozen corn
a drained can of diced hatch chilis of jalapenos
shredded cheddar cheese
melted butter poured over the top
a swirl of a couple of tablespoons of heavy cream (spoon bread vibes!)
